Milan progressive rock band VIII Strada have released Città Totale, a double album on the Italian label Ma.Ra.Cash Records. Bandcamp dates it 17 June 2026. It sets two new studio tracks beside five live recordings and a remastered version of the band’s debut album, La leggenda della grande porta.

Two new songs, five live ones, one old album. The new studio tracks are “Città Totale” and “Quale primavera”. The live set is “Preludio a Eclypse – Eclipse Anulaire – Deguello”, “1403 Storia in Firenze”, “Ulysses”, “Canzone d’amore” and “La leggenda della grande porta”, and Bandcamp says it was recorded at Legend Club Milano. Bandcamp lists seven remastered tracks, opening with the debut’s title track and closing with “La terra dei falò”. The Italian retailer BTF dates the debut to 2008 and lists the physical edition as a 2CD with the catalogue number MRC150.

A Le Orme cover, played live. The band’s press release calls their take on “Canzone d’Amore” by Le Orme, one of the landmark acts of Italian prog, a reinterpretation rather than a straight cover. It is not a studio track: Bandcamp lists it among the live recordings. The release does not say that.

The band, as the band tells it. VIII Strada formed in Milan in 1996, and the line-up is Tito Vizzuso on vocals, Davide Zigliani on guitars, Sergio Merlino on bass and Sigfrido Percich on drums. They place themselves in the Italian progressive tradition (RPI) with a more contemporary approach and harder-edged passages. The press release says they have shared stages with Arena, Pain of Salvation, Tony Levin, Osanna, Biglietto per l’Inferno and David Jackson of Van der Graaf Generator, and had an eighteen-month live collaboration with Patrizio Fariselli of Area. On 22 May 2026 they opened for Banco del Mutuo Soccorso at Legend Club in Milan; the venue’s listing confirms that Banco played there that night, though it does not name a support act.
