Music Incubator Novus is an international young bands competition and is held for five years straight at Art Factory Loftas. The project encourages to participate bands of any music genre.
Celebrating its anniversary and bringing hundreds of listeners to the urban Loftas yard every year, this year’s competition will take place between June and July. Young Latvian and Estonian talents are invited to join the competition this year too.
The performances of the contestants are evaluated by a jury consisting of music managers and professionals from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Last year the members of jury was Sony Music Entertainment representative Kaisu Pulli, Bruno Roze, founder of I Love You Records, Darius Uzkuraitis – a director of national radio LRT OPUS, Leon Somov – music producer, Ramunas Zilnys – music journalist and host at national television LRT and many others.
Winners of last year’s competition, jazz and dance music revolutionaries JUZT, say that it is not necessary to win Novus to get tangible benefits – talk about all the contacts, experience on stage, quality live video clips.
“For us personally, one of the most important benefits of this competition is the polystylistics and the diversity of genres. Everyone is welcome here – no clichés, you can just be yourself,” says Nikita Kiriuchin, a member of the band.
Nikita reveals that the memories from last year’s contests are only positive.
“It was fun to listen to other bands, watch different show styles, get ideas. Although we were all rivals, there were no competitive feelings backstage – the environment was friendly and fun. By the way, I want to say huge thanks to the audience of the competition – it was one of the best audiences ever to play to,” says Nikita.
He reveals that since last summer, the band has taken advantage of almost all the Novus’19 prizes – the band recently recorded their debut album, filmed a music video, played on the main stage of Lostas Fest’19. “The winning prize package is a really wonderful boost for young bands to help get out of the shadow and settle into the music scene,” he says.
This year’s winning bands also have a generous prize pool – a professional mini-album recording at Mama Studios, a professional song recording and mixing at Muzikinis Cechas, a photo session at Brazzi photo studio, a professional live music video, Pull & Bear gift voucher, tickets to Pasaka movie theater, VAGA bookstore gifts, tickets to the Aura Dance Theater.
The project partially funded by Lithuanian Council for Culture.
