“Unveiling the Palest Truth” is the 7th studio record by Australian apocalyptic black metal titans Deadspace. The album delivers a concise and sinister insight into the nature of stage one of current apocalyptic unfoldings, namely the dismissal of axiomatic reality. It outlines that the constant pursuit of happiness as an abstract is an ancient prophecised illness that is innate to human existence. This record discusses ‘happiness’ in the Aristotelian form, as a mode of eudaimonia or human flourishing.
The album can be broken down like so:
- Enter the Valley of the Dead: the initial thesis/deliberation of the dissertation.
- Within his Wretched Tomb: empirical evidence of human suffering and failure as a species over a historical context.
- Dwell in Desdemona: theories of where that will lead mankind. The opposite of eudaimonia.
- Unveiling the Palest Truth: the shattering of beliefs. All truth becomes debatable and the idea of knowledge is considered erroneous and no longer power.
- A Feast for the Rats: the effect on the psyche of the individual. Living becomes more terrifying than death itself.
The short running length first destined this release to be an EP, but after discussions with the label, it was decided that the fabric of this album was so complete and dense that it should be released as a full length.
