Brisbane blackened thrash/death metal act Idle Ruin have dropped a brand new video for the track “Shackled for Adornment” which comes off their most recent album “The Fell Tyrant”, out now via Bitter Loss Records.
The band comments on the idea behind the video: “This music video is for “Shackled for Adornment”, the opening track to our album “The Fell Tyrant”. We filmed the video at the sold-out launch show of our album at Brisbane venue The Bearded Lady and it was up there as one of the best shows we’ve ever played. The moshpit went right off, and the audience was singing back lyrics to our new songs only hours after we’d released the new album! With this video we really wanted to share the experience we all had at that incredible night.”
“The Fell Tyrant” is 9 tracks of blackened death thrash metal, picking up from where the band left off from the previous self-titled and “Malefactors” EPs. Keeping up with the theme of folklore and horror tales from Idle Ruin’s hometown of Brisbane, the album title “The Fell Tyrant” refers to Brisbane’s early days as the Moreton Bay Prison Colony and of its notorious commandant Captain Logan.
Idle Ruin was formed by Liam Anthony, who for several years has played drums for numerous Australian thrash and death metal bands (Malakyte, Spektre, Decapitated Mum). While Australia’s live metal scene was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Liam made use of the lockdown time to write songs for his own studio project Idle Ruin. In 2021, Idle Ruin evolved into a fully fledged band with guitarist Kaleb Doherty (Feculent, When Death Replaces Life) and bassist Tim Maastricht (Wartooth, Kaustic Attack).
